4 Lullabies To Sing To Your Baby

In a recent blog post we explored why singing your baby to sleep is such a positive thing to do

So, now that you’re inspired to soothe your baby with song, here are 4 of our favourite lullabies for you to learn and share with your child.

 Baa Baa Black Sheep

This is a traditional English lullaby with a simple, memorable tune. We love that it can also introduce the ‘sheep counting game’ to your children when they’re a little bit older, so it can help them get to sleep for years to come. It was originally printed in 1744, in Tommy Thumb’s Song Book.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Another traditional lullaby, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star was first published as a poem by Ann and Jane Taylor in 1805.

When the blazing sun is gone

When he nothing shines upon

An Irish Lullaby — Toora Loora Loora

Popularised by Bing Crosby, Toora Loora Loora is in fact a lullaby dating back to 1913, written by J.R. Shannon. Its wonderful chorus flows off the tongue and is relaxing and fun for your baby, who’ll soon be singing along.

Brahm’s Lullaby

This beautiful lullaby was originally written in German, as a gift for a new baby. The first verse is inspired by a German poetry collection called Des Knaben Wunderhorn. Its language and rhythm speaks to times gone by, and as your little one grows, its history will inspire a curiosity for the past.
