This nursery rhyme in a way has a very funny history. The poem relates to a couple who lived in a tree house. This tree house was very much respected. In fact, it was believed to be more than 2000 years old. The same family that lived in this house was basically charcoal burners. Their tree house home was in a place called Shining Cliff Woods which is in Ambergate. In fact, it is believed that the entire village in that place was basically charcoal burners. They were called Kate and Luke Kennyon and they developed the poem. Their tree that they lived in was called Betty Kenny Tree.
